Puddle-jumping

Puddle-jumping. So OK blogging is another way of reflecting what's going on in the THD world here at the lake. So I figure if I just jump into the puddle and get a few things down into the blog sheet, I just might reflect on what I'm trying to accomplish while on this creative journey. It's funny when I think of all the symbolism around me. It's almost like when I took perspective classes in school--everywhere I looked, my eyes were opened to see fabulous landscapes and their vanishing points. And then I visited downtown Houston and had a great time discovering ways to draw buildings, streets, etc. from different perspective points. Symbolism is like that--once a person's eyes are opened through a bit of knowledge and inquisitivness, then everywhere we look there are symbols--old and new. All derived from ancient cultures. All have history. And as we start to learn their meaning and intentions, we begin to understand the language of symbolism. I love the thought of a common thread in all of us. I call it the God thread. Symbols are a way of communicating the "God thread" in all of us. For me, using artist tools through painting is a way of sharing the "God thread" through symbolism.

Peace,
MaryB
